I struggle to see why I would buy hardware with no new games. Same with the Steam deck, why would I buy hardware to play games I already played? It seems like this is the industry trend, rehashing games that already came out. Like damn launch it with a new LittleBigPlanet or Killzone game.

Type of console I’d go to a midnight release for(if those even exist still). The psp has a special place in my heart, the ps vita… not so much. Maybe if this is true hopefully they’ll do it right this time.

PSPro Digital only, migrate infrastructure from the PS Store, account log-in for purchases. $300 with charging station and chord battery plug-in. Remote play with PS5, enough sales a PSPro 2 for PS5 games.

A PS4 portable would make a ton of sense for PlayStation, as it will have a huge library at launch, but a few of those PS5 games will be available too (because so many of them received PS4 ports). This could also help keep the PS4 alive, as a budget option in the PlayStation lineup compared to the PS5 and the portable. However, this device would probably just cripple the PS5, as games would continue to be developed for PS4 because of the portable, and so there'd be less and less of a reason to buy a PS5 because of it.

It's a great idea. Standalone device that doesn't need any extra support once released. Will play the 5 most popular games on the market portably. As long as Sony allow for 4G/5G out of the box rather than just wifi I think it would do surprisingly well.

I wonder how well it’s going play ps4 games. Consider ps4 used desktop GDDR5 memory, where this mobile device will be using LPDDR5. Then again. There was so many ps4 game that did run awful on ps4. Like just cause 3 was one game I loved but ran horrible on ps4. If mobile device is close 2 Tflops. I guess we’ll have wait and see. Steam deck is 1.6, ps4 was 1.8 Tflops. I still want folders for ps5. If we ever even get it.

I think it will be hardware that can scale ps5 games to lower resolutions and ps4 level graphics, which would be fine. Just do it right. Don’t make the same mistakes of the Vita (no proprietart memory cards, standard usb-c charging).

Sounds interesting because I have so many digital PS4 games, but I already don't play them anymore--a portable way to play them isn't going to change that. Pretty confident a portable PS4 would be a gigantic flop, even without considering the competition in the portable space.

If they allow the previous generation (PS3, PS2, PS1)to be played on this presumably PS4PRO PORTABLE, then we've reached peak. Makes sense since older lower power games last longer on battery. Sony should encourage using legacy titles However, I own a steamdeck already, so Sony really has to put in a lot of work on ergonomics if I am to even consider this over STEAM DECK

This move will make me go more digital. I like my discs games for big screen, couch sessions but something small like this for indies/ old school games. You betcha!

Am I the only one that wants a "true" portable system? Not a full console that's big and runs hot and plays TLOU and GOW at 1080/60. I want bite sized games with small file sizes on a small-ish lightweight device that doesn't cost $300-$500.

God I hope not. Nintendo has dominance in handhelds for a reason and that's because they do it right. Sony has dominance in consoles because they DO IT RIGHT. That's the way it's been and that's the way it should stay.

The only way they'd get close to PS4 Pro performance is an external GPU, which could lower the cost if dudes don't have to buy that.

Whilst I wouldn’t get this, it’s a very good idea. My Steam Deck does all this for me already but this is a far better idea than the PlayStation E-Waste Portal.
